7 girls 5 cups, 4 girls 3 cups, 6 girls 2 cups

August 25, 2008

How many girls and cups do you want?  6 girls 4 cups, or 3 girls 7 cups?  4 girls 2 cups, or 5 girls 6 cups?  Is 7 girls 4 cups better than 4 girls 7 cups?  Is 2 girls 5 cups better than 2 girls 3 cups?

Does more cups mean it’s better or more girls?

0 girls, 1 girls, 2 girls, 3 girls, 4 girls, 5 girls, 6 girls, 7 girls: does it matter how many girls?

0 cups, 1 cups, 2 cups, 3 cups, 4 cups, 5 cups, 6 cups, 7 cups: does it matter how many cups?

What if they’re D cups?

There we go.

What is Boom De Yada?

June 28, 2008

Boom De Yada is from a Discovery Channel commercial, which you can find here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at_f98qOGY0

The XKCD comic is a parody of this commercial.  Pretty good.  Now this is going to be stuck in my head for days.  Now that I’ve watched the commercial, I can fully appreciate the genius behind the comic.  This is already one of my favorites.

This Food is Problematic

June 20, 2008

In the words of the old Firefly saying, “This Food is Problematic.”  Who said this?

Well, the actual quote is “My food is problematic.”  It was said by River on the Firefly series, and Jayne Cobb replied “Girl’s a mind-readin’ genius, can’t even figure out how to eat an ice-planet.”

It still doesn’t make sense.  Maybe I should go watch Firefly.

By the way, if any of you enjoy baseball, webgames, or simulators, you should try out SimYard.com, a baseball simulation webgame where you are the owner and manager.  It was written by an xkcd fan, after all.

Who is Cory Doctorow?

May 26, 2008

Cory Doctorow (born July 17, 1971) is a Canadian blogger, journalist and science fiction author who serves as co-editor of the blog Boing Boing. He is an activist in favor of liberalizing copyright laws and a proponent of the Creative Commons organization, using some of their licenses for his books. Some common themes of his work include digital rights management, file sharing, Disney, and post-scarcity economics.

Doctorow’s first novel, Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom was published in January 2003, and was the first novel released under one of the Creative Commons licenses. The license allowed readers to circulate the electronic edition as long as they neither made money from it nor used it to create derived works. The electronic edition was released simultaneously with the print edition.
