SimYard Featured on Baseball Zealot Radio

June 17, 2008

My fantasy baseball website, SimYard, was featured on a podcast today on Baseball Zealot Radio.  You can find the podcast here.  We also talked quite a bit about Japanese baseball.  I was a cheerleader for the Hanshin Tigers last season and we had an interesting discussion about that.

SimYard opens the 1901 Season

May 1, 2008

The fantasy baseball simulator, SimYard, opens up the 1901 season tomorrow night.  Now is your chance to get in and start playing Spring Training games.  Give your guys a little training boost before the new season.  SimYard is the next generation of fantasy baseball.

It’s still February for you, but it’s October for us!

February 27, 2008

The playoffs are in the air at SimYard.com, with single elimination wildcard playoffs leading into tomorrow’s quarterfinals. SimYard went live at the beginning of February with the goal of simulating a full season of baseball each month. In February, we have succeeded.

Hundreds of teams were created and thousands of games were played. Fifty-three of those teams made the playoffs. Some of the teams used all their pitchers at the end of the season to get their spot and now face a tired bullpen. There is a lot of excitement in the air.

Every two hours, there’s another round of games. This gives your bullpen a bit of time to rest leading up to a hectic 20 minutes of 48 teams all facing elimination at once in the first round of the playoff wildcard tournament. The top 5 teams get automatic entry to the quarterfinals, guaranteed to have their pitchers rested tomorrow when they start. The next 48 teams have to win four straight to get the same quarterfinal spot.

We’re going to do this every month.

The Next Generation of Fantasy Baseball is here!

February 11, 2008

If you haven’t found SimYard yet, then you’re missing out on the next big thing in fantasy baseball.  In the first week, over a hundred people have already signed up, and more than half of them are actively playing against each other in the park.  At any given time during the day, there are four or five games going on simultaneously, each of which takes about 20 minutes to play.

SimYard is a fantasy baseball management simulation game.  Teams are battling it out in the park for a position in the postseason tournament, which will start on February 27th and last for two days.  Currently, the Puyallup Eagles are in first place with a 48 - 35 record.  The Mars Green Stockings (27 - 17) and Srilankan Pirate Ninja Robots (20 - 10) are both 1.5 games back in second.  These standings will be used to seed into the tournament.  If you want to be involved, now is the time to join up!

The game is free, and soon there will be a paid portion launching where you can create your own leagues, build a stadium, and negotiate contracts with your players.  Sign up for SimYard, and help create a new baseball history in this next generation of fantasy baseball.

What if Roger Clemens were to go on The Moment of Truth

February 8, 2008

Based on past posts, we know for the fact that I dislike the Moment of Truth.  The show just moves WAY to slow for me.  What if we were to add an interesting twist, I say pay Roger Clemens a shitload of money to go on the show and play.  Watching him answer those 50 questions would be classic!  Here are a few that I can think of before actually asking if he ever took steroids or HGH.

First it will start off easy for the 10k round.

“Has anyone injected you with a substance in your ass?”

“Do you think you are the best pitcher in the history of the league?”

“Have you ever lied about taking illegal substances?” - This would could be things like, have you ever smoked pot?  Think of the possibilities here.

“Do you think you will get voted into the hall of fame?”

“Have you ever paid for sex?” - They cannot ALL Be about baseball, can they?

“Have you ever thrown out fan mail without actually reading it?” - now this will be the 10k question.  They need people to continue to watch.  The next 5 questions would be harder…

“Have you ever thrown a game to win a bet?”- Pete Rose anyone?  Why not…

“Have you ever sent flirtatious messages to anyone other than your girlfriend?” - this is assuming that he has a girlfriend.  They always throw in this question in some variation…

“Would you do anything to play another season of baseball?”

“Have you purposely beaned someone in the head by a pitch?”

Finally, for 40k, here comes Brian McNamee and reads out “Have you ever taken steroids to increase your performance?” - At this moment, we can finally see if the name is telling the truth or not.

Personally, for me, I have given up on the steroids business.  I have turned my focus to the online world of baseball.  There is nothing better than playing the game of simyard and get to manage the team without worrying about the politics of baseball.  It is just about the love of the game.

SimYard will remain Ad-Free

February 6, 2008

Nothing pisses me off more than paying for something and then getting spammed with ads.  You see this most commonly with television.  I pay like $75 / month for DirecTV, and almost all the channels are loaded with advertisements.  It sickens me.

A couple of people have asked me why I don’t put ads up on SimYard.  (For those of you who don’t know, SimYard is my new fantasy baseball management simulation webgame.)  The answer is, I will be charging next month to join leagues, and I don’t think it’s right to charge money for something and then make more money advertising to those people.  People are going to play my game because it’s fun and it makes them relax, and advertisements steal from that environment.

So, no ads.  That’s the way I like it.  Please, enjoy SimYard, a brand new webgame that has no ads.

A post from Koopa about Simyard

A game?  You want the next greatest web game?  I will give you one!

NOTE: Erick, I can spam my own blog too about your game.  You don’t need to do all the spamming you jackass!

Simyard.com

What is so great about it?  It appeals to everyone.  For those people that love baseball but can’t play those games where you need to hit and catch the ball, you don’t need to do that here.

For those people that love to fire and hire players and find the best lineup.  You can do that here.

For those people that hate to fire and hire people, you can have the computer do that for you.

For those people that don’t have a lot of time to play, but want to make a good team.  You can launch a game and then walk away.  The game will play while you are gone!

For those people who  just love to watch a great baseball game unfold!

For those people that love to play against other people and not the computer.  That is right!  You pair up against other people’s teams.  You will never pair up against a computer!

What I am trying to say is that simyard is just good for everyone.  I love playing this game and I really hope that you will too!  You will NOT be disappointed!!!
