The issue I was having is every time I opened up Outlook 2007, I would receive the error database creation was unsuccessful from the Business Small Contact Manager. Now, I don’t know anyone that uses this software, so I was one step away from removing it, but decided to see if SQL was started first. Sure enough, the service SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) was not started. Once starting this service, the install was able to finish.

How to create a T1 loopback plug?
As you may or may not know, I do a lot of enterprise fax consulting. One of the things that this involves is troubleshooting T1 connections. One of the best tools to do this, is to create a loopback plug to test the equipment to ensure that the signal is sending data out and receiving in. Here are the directions to create such a utility.
Complete the following steps to create a loopback plug for a T1 CSU/DSU:
Use wire cutters to cut a working RJ-45 cable that is 5 inches long with a connector attached.
Strip the wires.
Twist the wires from pins 1 and 4 together.
Twist the wires from pins 2 and 5 together.
Leave the rest of the wires alone.
OR
Take a RJ-45 plug.
Cut a 2.5in wire.
Using only 2 wires.
Place one end of one wire on pin 1 and the other end of the same wire on pin 4.
Take the other wire and put it in pin 2 and the other end on pin 5.
Crimp it, and your done.
“No authority could be contact for authenication.” when opening up Windows 2000 Active Directory
I had an interesting issue the other day when trying to open up Windows 2000 Active directory for a client. I kept getting the following error:
“Naming information cannot be located because: no authority could be contacted for authenication.”
I found the following microsoft KB which helped me see that there was little to be done:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/284929
This behavior can occur when Domain Name Service (DNS) is not correctly configured.
To resolve this behavior, make sure that the zones on your DNS server are configured correctly and that your DNS server is authoritative for the zone that contains the Active Directory domain name.
Try again to start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in. If you receive the same error message, use the DCPROMO utility to remove Active Directory, restart your computer, and then use DCPROMO to reinstall Active Directory. Verify that Active Directory has been installed successfully.
Before you install Active Directory, you must install and configure a DNS server that is authoritative for your Active Directory domain name. Active Directory depends on DNS to function correctly and requires the creation of the SYSVOL share.
NOTE: The SYSVOL share must be installed on an NTFS partition. At least one NTFS partition must be present on your domain controller in order to install Active Directory.
To verify that Active Directory has been installed successfully:
- Start DNS Manager, and then verify that the correct DNS entries have been created, by comparing the entries in DNS Manager with the entries in the Netlogon.dns file, which is located in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Config directory.
- Verify that the SYSVOL share has been created, and that it contains the NETLOGON share and the Policy and Script folders.
- Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, and make sure that your domain controller appears in the Domain Controllers container for the domain you specified.
- Open Event Viewer, and then review the entries in the File Replication Service Log, the DNS Server Log, and the System Log to make sure that Active Directory has been successfully installed.

Alien Annihilator Walkthrough
Another day, another walkthrough. Today’s game? Alien Annihilator!
This game is rather easy if you have the proper strategy. This is slighty the wimps way out, but works every time. The guns on the ships only have a certain range and the ships never go and follow you. They only move when meteors are in close proximitry. How can we use this to our advantage? First, get out of the computer’s gun range. Then pay attention to the meteor activity. Destory all meteors coming your way and let the computer get smashed up by em. This strategy worked well for me on hard, it should work for you too! Good luck!

What is a two Cintiqs?
In Penny Arcade today, a two Cintiqs was used to turn a single-player game into a multi-player game. What is this? How can I use this to turn my single-player games into multi-player games? The answer is easy and may astound you.
Simply put, Penny Arcade fails. I can’t explain it better than that. It’s not funny, it’s psychotic.
