I was given an iPhone this morning and it had a lock code on it.  The user also provided me the unlock code which did not work.  I was very worried that this was a stolen phone but the person swore up and down that it wasn’t.  I figured I would do a little bit of searching on the internet and found the following:

You can re-sync the phone to your computer that you initially synced with and it will unlock the code.  This doesn’t work for him since his laptop is busted.  Convenent right?  Well now I totally think it is a stolen phone.  For giggles, however, I tried to do a soft reset.  I held down the top and front buttons until the phone turned off.  I turned the phone back in, inputted the code, and it worked!  Seems that the iPhone just had locked up via the software and was acting retarded.

Moral of the story is, not all phones are stolen!

I was able to do a more fun project today.  I had to troubleshoot why a SC361 Plantronics headset stopped working.
First, I set it up.  Since I use these type of headsets a lot (I am a high level helpdesk engineer) I knew the basics of setting it up.  For those of you that need to brush up on this setup, see link now!

Secondly, I could not hear dialtone when I picked up the headset.  I thought that the headset was not paired up.  I found the following directions:

. To pair another headset to the base, you must first enable the multi-shift pairing feature. Push and hold the volume + button on the back of the charging base until the red power light (on the front of the base) starts to flash.

2. Place the headset into the charging base and immediately press the + button on the headset itself until you see the small green light on the headset come on and flash.

After doing this, the headset worked!

So, I came into work today and my co-worker hands me this phone and says, here is a Motorola Q.  It is not american.  Ignore that.  It does not browse on the web.  Figure it out since I am at a loss.  I fiddled with it and noticed the following error when trying to browse the web:

Error: Could not establish network connection. Please check your connection settings.

I found some settings on the internet and changed the ATT EDGE settings to it and it worked.  Here are the settings that I used.

GPRS
Cingular USA
connects to: the internet
access point: wap.cingular
user name: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: ********

Authentication type: None

Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
IP address: blank

The phone was missing the access point to be specific.  Once set, internet’s away!

Shooth the guy in the middle that is not wearing glasses

Shoot the tree branch on the right tree. It will only fall if he is under it. It is will the be left most treebranch. It took me a long time to find the sweet spot, so be patient!

Level 6 – RANSOM

Find the guy with the package. Then wait for the “bad guy” to stop and talk to the package guy. Then shoot the bad guy in the head (I thought we weren’t supposed to kill him?)

Level 7 – PERSUASION

Alternate between kicking and hitting but make sure that the light keeps swinging. When fear is higher than gut, press space

Level 8 – HIDOUT

Shoot in the following order – Guy by tree, guy in window most left, guy in window most right, guy on roof, guy by car

Level 9 – SUCKER

Shoot both men as they go to get into the helicopter

Level 10 – BEACH PARTY

Shoot the string for the kite. Shoot the ball. Wait for them all to leave and then shoot the guy in the leg

Level 11 – THE TRUTH

There is nothing that pisses me off in the BES World like error messages that does not mean much to me!  This is one of them…

This error occured after I added a new person and the contacts did not port over.  For giggles, I did the following:

On the blackberry go to options, advanced options, host routing table, then click the button on the blackberry and choose register with network.  Sometimes if the blackberry does not register right the first time it corrupts the service book.

I then resent the service books from the BES server and waited.  After about 20 minutes, the guy’s contacts started to sync!
