Perfect Pushup Review

June 19, 2008

For the last 21 days, I have been trying out the Perfect Pushup and was interested to see if it works. My father had bought one in wal-mart had had used it for 2 – 21 day increments and loved it. I figured I would give it a try myself.

First, what I like is the price. For 20 dollars (buy it in wal-mart and do not buy it online. This is one of the few items that it is cheaper in the store) it is definitely worth it. You get a chart that tells you what you should do for 21 day sets. It starts you out slow and builds you up.

Personally, I suck at push ups so I was only able to do 3 push ups normal style using the handles. Normal push ups, I am able to do around 10. This made me do my first 21 day set from my knees. After getting past the fact that I am doing girl push ups, I started the set and so far I am happy with the results. The next 21 day increment will also be on my knees, but I was able to do 6 push ups now compared to my 3 before.

Anyways, the directions give you options for how many push ups you can do. It provides directions for 0-50 push ups. After the 50 mark, you are on your own. It mixes up regular, wide, close and char exercises every other day until the 21 day set is over and you start from the beginning.

My goal is to do more push ups than my father. Right now, he can do 24 push ups! I got my work cut out for me. All in all, I find that the program works and is easy to stick to. I actually want to do my routine each day and love how I feel afterwards. I always had problems doing push up routines because I would end to do them daily and never give my muscles a rest. In good shape (like my father) or bad shape (like me) this program works for everyone. I suggest you go over to Wal-Mart and pick up a set and start pumping!

BES Wireless Calendar Disabled

It seems that the newest bes server I have setup (version 4.1.4.3) the user (the only user) is displaying Wirelss Calendar Disabled in the user properties. I checked the application log and did not notice any errors. I then had the user do the following:

On the handheld, go to Calendar, click the trackwheel, choose Options and see if Wireless Synchronization is listed. If it is, set it to Yes. If its already set to Yes, set it to No and save the changes. Wait a few minutes then set it back to Yes.

The user verified that this was turned off. He turned it on, and now I am waiting to see if it will work. I’m sure that it will, since well, he said it was off :)

I wish all blackberry problems were this simple…. :)

Captaris Rightfax 8.7 End of Life

June 18, 2008

For those of you that are unaware of what Rightfax is, it is an enterprise faxing solution. Feel free to check them out at Captaris.com. Almost all the big boys has one, why not you?

Well regardless, version 8.7 is going to not be supported anymore on September first. This is significant because that is the last version that used their own proprietary database. Now, granted, their database sucked, but that is besides the point. If you want to use rightfax at this point, you better know SQL. Speaking of SQL, never EVER use version 9.0 without SQL, it is horrible, but that is for another time and another rant.

I am going to miss 8.7 since it came out right when I started to learn Rightfax and I got my feet wet on it. I have good memories of trying to install 8.7 until 1 AM in the morning on the friday before memorial day, and going to a client to assist with installing a remote board server and ended up doing the whole install.

Version 8.7 I will miss you! Enjoy these last months before retirement and try not to get your database corrupted (again)

Will bots improve the game Acronyms at Acronomics.com?

June 17, 2008

I ran this idea by Erick (creater of simyard and acronomics and he was not thrilled. I think that this idea would be the new wave for the site!

First, there is a ranking system. For this example, there will be beginner, intermediate, and expert. Everyone starts at beginning level and can only play in the beginner rounds. In the beginner’s tables, there are bots which play with you. The bots pull acronym answers from previous answers provided by human players. In the beginning rounds, they provide crappy answers provided by players. This should allow the human players to pick the best acronyms without picking the bot answers. Getting past the beginner stages should be rather easy to do. Next would be intermediate where the bots pick up more advanced acronyms and feed off of the site this way.

This would be the free portion of the site. A paid portion would allow you to expert levels where bots pull from past winning acronyms. Also it would allow for private rooms where human players can play against each other. If the human players wanted to include bots, they can and customize them as well.

I love this idea because the bots would be using intelligent design in order for them to work. They get the answers from the players as they are playing. The game would have its own feeling and movement. Erick thinks I am wrong, I think that this would bring the game to the next level. Call me crazy, but I think this idea would work!

Buy.com Deals – Stooping to a low level

As I read my emails this morning, I noticed something completely off the wall. I figured there was no way that this said what I thought it said. In the subject line for Buy.com Deals, it reads as follows:

2-Pk Hi-Fi Earphones = $10, Trojans = $10, Intel Dual-Core Notebook = $399.99,..

I was like, hmmm Trojans? That must be some kind of computer term or something…so I open up the email and read the following…

Logitech Cordless Desktop S510 – Wireless Keyboard & Optical Mouse –

FREE BUDGET SHIPPING
Buy.com price: $19.99
List price: $69.99

SimYard Featured on Baseball Zealot Radio

My fantasy baseball website, SimYard, was featured on a podcast today on Baseball Zealot Radio.  You can find the podcast here.  We also talked quite a bit about Japanese baseball.  I was a cheerleader for the Hanshin Tigers last season and we had an interesting discussion about that.

Sniper Assasin Walkthrough

June 16, 2008

And the next game on the price of right is….. SUPER ASSASIN! If you like point and click games, you will love this!

Mission 1, kill the guy in the baseball cap. He will be walking left to right.

Mission 2. Pay attention to the planes. Do not shoot the guy coming out of the japanese plane but shoot the guy coming out of the chinese plane.

Mission 3. Shoot the guy in the mansion. Wait for the guard to turn away.

Mission 4. shhot the 7th person coming out of the jail.

Mission 5. Kill all of the guards. Do not forget about the guard with his head just barely showing in the bottom right. Then kill the fork truck employees

Mission 6. Shoot all the guards. Make sure that they do not set off the alarm. Wait by the lower area for a guard to walk out behind the boxes. Shoot him. Then shoot the workers before they set the alarm. I just kept clicking until they were all dead.

Zohan Bueaty Salon Review

Ever wanted to play salon? Now is your chance! You can play the newest type of these games called Don’t mess with the Zohan Super Spa!

What I find this game unique is the fact that you don’t have the same time management issues you do in most of these types of games. Instead of running around like a chicken without a head, you actually interact per station. For example, you put the person into the drying station and then you actually dry their hair. You don’t just watch a timer go on until they are finished. Of course, this gets frustrating if you find you cannot complete a task. For example, I could NEVER do the face masking. No matter how many times I tried, I always missed a spot!

So far, I have found this game to be the most entertaining of this series. I find that kinda strange, since the game is clearly just a marketing plug for the movie! Meh, who cares, the game is fun as hell! Two thumbs up!

{user@email.com} MAPIMailbox CreateSearchFolder – Open Entry (0×80070005) failed

Well, I feel like such a dummy! I just installed the Blackberry Professional Software (version 4.1.4.15) on a SBS 2003 and for the life of me couldn’t figure out why I was receiving the following error:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent QSERVER Agent 1
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20265
Date: 6/16/2008
Time: 9:12:35 AM
User: N/A
Computer: QSERVER
Description:
{user@email.com} MAPIMailbox::CreateSearchFolder – Open Entry (0×80070005) failed

The reason was the security permissions were not set correctly on the server in Enterprise System Manager (ESM) Once I checked administer info store, send as and receive as permissions, all was well in the world. Go figure…
