Well, I don’t know about you, but I absolutely, HATE the following error message:
The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook
I get this when I try to access user’s shared calendars. I have this error occurring on my outlook 2003 and outlook 2007 machines, Since I am the main helpdesk person, clients like to call technical support and complain when the techs are late. The first thing I am supposed to do is check their calendar, and what do you know, I CAN’T!
Well, ranting aside, I did a little bit of research one tip is to turn off standby mode and hibernation mode. Since other apps were failing due to standby as well, I figured I would give that a go first. Granted, just closing outlook and reopening it resolves the issue, but outlook is a beast and I don’t have the energy to wait for it to open while people are yelling at me saying tech 1 is not at the location yet.
If it works, I’ll be sure to update!

I recently changed computers and went to Outlook 2007, I’m having the same issue with the error message when I try and access their shared calendar. One thing I’ve discovered is the longer Outlook is open, the more people’s calendar I have the problem with. Usually it starts with the top 1 or 2 on the list, then gets worse. I still have not found out how to fix this, if you find something, please post it. Thanks

Troy,
The hibernation thing definitely helped, but it didn’t solve the problem. I am still looking into this, but I doubt I’ll find an answer any time soon.

I have ran into this error as well with a client opening other user’s calendars that they do have access too. This happened after a few weeks their Office was upgraded from 2003 to 2007. Although the client was unable to reproduce the problem while I was at her desk she did get this error twice and telling the client she has to close Outlook to fix the problem is not going to be ok with her. We have SP1 installed for Office 2007 and it should fix this issue -http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941275

I am getting this same issue. I went to the printer properties page, but cannot find the area where I uncheck the task pad. Can you describe more precisely to me where I can find this?
