So I get a call this morning with a new user saying that webmail was down. His work email was performing great. His blackberry was performing great. His webmail, wasn’t working!
How bizzare I had thought. Let me check his webmail.
I checked his webmail and the emails are there. I figured I should call him back and let him know. I call him up and he is like, THE SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING?!?!?!?!? I calmly reply, GO TO HELL. Oh wait, no, that was my inntervoice screaming in my head. I actually replied, ok, well lets take a look into what is going on. I then told him that he should hit the check mail button in webmail and it will get the new emails. I suggested that since he has the blackberry, it will inform him when he gets new messages so it wouldn’t be that big of deal. His first question, legitimate, was webmail does not refresh automatically? I told him that the new email window pops up but you need to refresh the screen in order to see the new messages. He pauses for a second and then goes, well I have been hitting F9 all morning! I think for a second, and told him that refresh websites was F5. He tells me no, it is F9. This goes back and forth for a moment and finally he told me, they had must of changed it. Mind you, I have been working with computers since windows 3.1, I can garentee you that it has always been F5 to refresh. The end, do not stop at F9, do not pass go, go directly to F5.
It is amazing what some people would argue about these days…
