I hate anti- software. I prefer to keep my computer clean AND lean. I do not want anti-virus software running because it just leeches processing time. Besides, I always know when I get a virus. I know it immediately, and it’s always because of something stupid I just did.
And I just did.
So I had a rogue process, changing its executable filename every time it ran, and generally being really stupid and doing god only knows what in the background. But HijackThis found it, and I deleted it. In addition, it found all sorts of other things that random software added to my operating system without my knowledge. Extra buttons and menu items are now gone, the source of several little icons that show up in the system tray are completely erradicated.
On top of this, it’s only one .EXE file, so it’s a simple install and uninstall. I can’t believe nobody’s told me about this software before.
