Review of High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition (PS3)

December 18, 2007

Yesterday I purchased High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition in the Playstation Store.  This game is only $9.99, and I thought I’d have some fun with it.  Here are the ups and downs of the game.  The online play is great.  Microphones and headsets are supported, and it seems lots of people use them.  Be warned, though, that it seems nearly everyone who plays this game smokes pot while they do so.  Lots of coughing and bong noises can be heard in the background.

The game boasts five different variations of poker, but Texas Hold-em is the only one I’ve heard of, and the only one anyone was playing.  There were ten different tables going last night, though, so there’s lots of options there.

The play is very fast.  There aren’t too many people only half paying attention to the game like you find with web-based poker games.  Unfortunately, though, the game only supports six players per table, which I find a bit revolting, actually.

So, the bottom line is, if you smoke pot and have a headset, then buy this game to make some new friends.  Otherwise, take a pass.

200th post – and may there be many more, many more!

And welcome to post 200!  I would like to honor this occasion to all of the people that come on here and make this site what it is!

Now, move it along, there is nothing to see here!

The test of wits between a Cat, a mouse, and me

So lets start off by saying that last night was the first night I slept at the condo.  Here is how the night went.

11:30 PM – Initial sleep time – ME +1

12:00 AM – Cat jumps on the bed and wakes me up – Cat +1

1:15 AM – Noises of little feet are in the wall…I do not know what it is.  I do not want to wake up my wife and pray it is the cat.  – Mouse +2

1:30 AM – Cat walks on my legs – Cat +1

1:45 AM – I roll over while the cat is on top of me.  I get into a comfy position and finally fall back asleep – Me +1

2:30 AM – Noises come back.  Cat is not even in the room… I fear the worst – Mouse +2

3:00 AM – Cat headbutts my head.  – Cat +1

3:15 AM – I roll over and cat jumps off the bed – Me +1

4:00 AM – Cat walks on my legs again – Cat +1

4:15 AM – I fall back asleep – Me +1

6:00 AM – Alarm goes off…I wake up.

6:45 AM – The sounds of little feet finally wake my wife up.  She gets scared shitless.  We finally determine where the sounds of the feet are coming from.  MY condo has a little attic and the sounds are coming from the ceiling.  Mouse +2

And the final tally is……. ME – 4 Cat – 4 – Mouse – 6

MOUSE WINS! – And its time to setup some traps in the attic!

Project Sillician Zebra – Posting images on the site

Well, for the record, I tried to post an image in the site.  I have been getting a lot of hate mail (1 or two comments) of why we don’t use images in the reviews.  I just posted my first image and let me tell you, it is no five minutes.

The screenshot is EASY, posting it is the hard part.  First you take the screen shot.  Then you upload the image to the site.  At this point, when writing the content, you can include the image into the post.  This is kinda cool…then you can go ahead and write the rest of the review.

Where is the problem?  Let me tell you!  The size of the image!  If the image is bigger than a certain size, it will not format properly on the site.  Now granted, once I know the size and posted more images, the process would go faster but currently, it takes too long :)

Granted the other workaround is to just paste an image to the review and have people click it but I don’t see this as a viable option.  I want to see the picture damnit!

For the moment, don’t expect to see a lot of pretty little graphics :)   Plain and simple works for me!

The best way to lose at Spider Solitaire

Spider Solitaire

This is the best way to lose at Spider Solitaire!  I cannot get any more cards due to all the rows are not filled.  I can undo, but I do not believe in it!  So there you have it folks, take that as a loss!
