Project Failure – month 3 rolling right in

November 1, 2007

So this is going to be the third month of the start of this blog.  So far I am sticking to my convictions which is nice.  I know I write a lot of these posts but it is important for me to make you (the reader) also know what I am doing and where I am coming from…

Here are the goals for the month of november…

1. More KBS…hopefully I will run into more issues with computers to run into and post them here.

2. More funny issues – it seems that the weird aspects at this job are decreasing.  When funny things happens, I will let everyone know.

3. More revies – Ideally, once a week, I would like to analyse something and post it back.  I have done a few so far (OSX5 and a blackberry article) but I would like to do one once a week.

4. More randomness…I like randomness :)

Thank you all for making project failure not so sucky….only kinda sucky :)

This is what happens when CIOs go horribly wrong…

So a few years ago, I consulted for a company and did all their email support and some low level support.  I went to all their Christmas parties and was pretty good reputation with the whole staff.

Recently, I took this current job and have not done any work for the company. (since we were contracted through my old company….) but now I receive these random emails.  No matter how many times I tell the CIO that I do not work for the company and should be removed, he does not do it.  I may even be added on the vacation roster (or some other guy named Bill….there are a lot of bills in the world.)

Here is the latest email…

Hey guys,

Here’s the updated tech team PTO schedule.  Please give it a read
TODAY and let me know if there are any errors.

Remember that green days are fixed vacation days, and blue days are
flexible provided you give me two days notice that you want to change
it and we find a new day that doesn’t overlap with too many other folks.

So I figured I should respond to this…. here is my response…

CIO,

You still have me on this mailing list….

I don’t mind if COMPANY wants to hire me but still……

Bill

PS: how are things going for you and COMPANY?

Hopefully this will get me off the mailing list….I have received a couple of emails that I Really shouldn’t be receiving…

Another day in paradise….
